Bernard Felder is the managing and Southeast regional director of Wood Partners’ Specialty Housing Group, which is responsible for workforce, student, and senior housing development. He has led the development of more than 6,700 multifamily units, across the organization’s territory, with a value in excess of $700 million.
Before joining Wood Partners in 2001, Felder was Senior Vice President at Banc of America Community Development Corporation, where he was responsible for the development of affordable and mixed-income housing projects across the Carolinas. During his tenure, he also managed the $300 million Banc of America Housing Fund (a LIHTC investor fund). He began his career working for Duke Energy Corporation in land management and corporate real estate.
Felder received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Selected as a Graduate Fellow with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, he earned a Masters degree in Urban Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in Real Estate Development and Finance. While in graduate school, Felder worked with the Durham (N.C.) Housing Authority on its first low-income housing tax credit development project. Felder is a past Vice Chair of the Urban Land Institute’s National Affordable Housing Council, a member of NALFA and the American Seniors Housing Association. He has also served as board member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Historic Landmarks Commission and the Mecklenburg County Board of Tax Equalization and Review.
