Leonard W. Wood, Sr. serves on the Board of Directors of Wood Partners. He founded the company in 1998 and retired as its chief executive officer in 2007.
Prior to founding Wood Partners, he served as a partner for the apartment development and management company Trammell Crow Residential, or TCR, where he was in charge of the Southeast Region, Texas, the Midwest, and Southwest Regions. In January of 1994, five operating companies that worked with Wood in Texas, Georgia and Tennessee combined and completed an initial public offering as Gables Residential Trust, a New York Stock Exchange REIT. While with TCR, he served on the board of Homegate Hospitality, Inc.
Wood holds an MBA degree from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, with an undergraduate degree from N.C. State University. He serves as a director on numerous boards that include the Multi-Family Leadership Board of NAHB, the National Multi-Housing Council, the Darlington School and Cole Credit Property Trust III, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Visitors of the Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he founded the Wood Center for Real Estate Development and currently serves as the chairman of its advisory board. He is an active member in the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way and is a member of its Ivan Allen Society.
